PVC-U RECYCLING
Saving our planet is very important, which is why we want to provide the best products for our earth. Read on to find more about how we do this.
PVC-U recycling – the future
PVC-U is an exceptionally sustainable product. It’s also strong enough to be recycled and used for another purpose multiple times without its performance or quality weakening. After it’s been recycled it can be used to create an assortment of different products, ranging from window systems to thermal inserts. This allows us to reuse nearly 100% of the production waste we incur. It’s also extremely good for the environment which strongly benefits the future of PVC-U recycling.
Recycling – Post consumer
Most of the new window solutions available now are post-consumer recycled PVC-U. Regardless of finish, colour or age they can now be turned into the components used in a range of different products. PVC-U frames that have come to the end of their life are also now worth cash, this makes them equally more attractive to the consumer industry. Anyone that sends them for recycling could receive payment, which also allows you to avoid landfill taxes, which are currently £56.00 per tonne and expected to get higher. This makes a significant difference to costs of projects, while also helping housing associations to reach their budgetary and sustainability targets.
Sustainability
Advances in product innovation and recycling allow PVC-U to now be widely recognised as a maintainable choice for the construction industry. Used PVC-U frames can be repurposed around ten times without deteriorating or lacking quality. The average lifespan of PVC-U windows is around 35 years, this means it can provide up to 350 years of quality performance, with a very small impact on our environment. People can sometimes presume PVC-U is unsustainable as it’s not organic. However, it is in fact sustainable. It’s an inherently insulating material and is the most thermally efficient material. In addition to this it’s recyclable. PVCU is also good value for money.
Overall UPV-C has many benefits and a minimal impact on the environment. It offers hundreds of years of usage, which is fantastic because we can keep re-using it multiple times before it’s quality deteriorates, this is a great help to the environment as well as you having great products. Recycling PVC-U has a reduced impact on the environment allowing you to use environmentally friendly products that are top quality and you’ll love. They are also purposely engineered to offer an amazing energy efficiency and all of this means that a reduced amount of PVC-U will be going to landfill.
